Passive Therapy Modalities

Passive Therapy Modalities Help Speed Up Healing

At Kernetics Wellness Center, Little Elm, Texas we offer several non – invasive passive therapy modalities that help speed up healing, reduce inflammation, and relieve pain. Some of the modalities used at our office are EMS (Electrical muscle stimulation), IST (Intersegmental traction) and Therapeutic Ultrasound.

EMS Therapy

EMS (Electrical muscle stimulation) can help treat musculoskeletal injuries or ailments. EMS is a common and effective way to: Relieve discomfort and pain as well as reduce muscle spasm.

IST Table (Intersegmental traction)

The benefits of the traction table are:

  1. Accelerates recovery from injury.
  2. Restores the normal range of motion in the spine.
  3. Helps reduce muscle spasms that can be caused by weakened postural muscles or spinal injuries.
  4. Helps increase blood flow to your discs, ligaments, and muscles, which can improve balance and strength.
Ultrasound Machine

Therapeutic Ultrasound is a noninvasive procedure that’s usually pain free and can be completed in 15 minutes. At Kernetics Wellness Center, we use it on our patients suffering from severe tissue damage from sport injuries or an auto accident. The benefits of the Ultrasound therapy are:

  1. Increase blood flow
  2. Promote tissue healing.
  3. Improve collagen alignment.
  4. Increase cell proliferation.
  5. Improve tissue biomechanics
  6. Increase elasticity.
Other Therapy Modalities

Some of the other therapies we apply at the center are massage and Sport taping. Dr. Yates uses a variety of different massage techniques and instruments to not only reduce the tension in your muscles and soft tissue but also provide stress relief and relaxation for your mental wellbeing. We want to ease your aches and pains while also improving your mood.

At Kernetics Wellness Center, the application of elastic therapeutic tape such as Kinesio tape, is used on our patients suffering from soft tissue injuries. The tape helps to relieve pain, reduce swelling and inflammation and provide support to joints and muscles.
